Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope you are all well and enjoying the easing of restrictions as we move into Phase 3. In line with the latest Health advice current Term 2 arrangements have been reviewed with the following changes from Week 7, Monday 8th June.

  • Kindy parents only will now be able to drop off and pick up at the door. All other students in Years P-6 are requested to continue dropping off and picking up from the gates. This is due to the restriction of only 100 adults being allowed on site, maintaining a 2 square metre distancing rule. With Kinross PS having 690 students, it is too difficult to allow everyone back on site and ensure we are only having 100 on site. The survey conducted in the newsletter last week shows parent support for continuing dropping off and picking up from the gates. Due to this, we have developed the ‘Independence Initiative’ guidelines that we would like to implement once the 100 adults on site rule is lifted. I have attached this for your interest and feedback.
  • Parents may now enter the office; however, only 3 adults at a time and social distancing must be observed. Please wait outside if 3 people are already in attendance.
  • Parent meetings and case conferences can now happen on site, maintaining social distancing.
  • Choir will recommence next Friday.
  • Jump Jam will recommence on Monday for students in the undercover area (100 only)
  • Jogging Club will recommence on Tuesdays (students only and a maximum of 300). Parents please maintain social distancing if observing from the banks.
  • Assemblies will not recommence, due to only 100 being allowed in the undercover area.
  • Year 6 School camp will go ahead at this stage (numbers at 100)Playgrounds will re-open on Monday

I would also like to mention that it is very important that ALL parents follow the Kiss and Drive rules, to ensure fairness and equity for all. No one parent is entitled to park in a bay in the Kiss and Drive waiting indefinitely for their child/children to arrive. If your child is not present you must move on around the circuit and come back. I am in the process of producing a video to teach and reinforce the proper use of the Kiss and Drive. It is for all our children’s safety that I insist you observe these rules. I have been very upset to see parents putting their own children at risk encouraging them to come out onto the road and cross the road behind parked cars to jump into their car, as they stop in the middle of the road. This is simply not acceptable.

I would like to thank all our parents for supporting us through these unprecedented times. You have all be extremely positive and supported our staff and the restrictions we have had to enforce. We have appreciated this immensely.

Independence Initiative Policy

Have a lovely weekend.

Kind regards,
